OUR HISTORY

Penn Cove Group (PCG) was founded in 2006 by Brian Shanahan, Karen Shanahan, Justin Kaylor, and Brandon Kaylor in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a primary focus on land acquisition and development. The company quickly established itself as a forward-thinking firm dedicated to creating long-term value in the region through strategic real estate investments.

In 2013, PCG made a significant leap into the sports and recreation sector with the acquisition of the Cool Springs campus, a move that diversified the company’s portfolio and marked the beginning of its expansion into new industries. This growth continued in 2017 with the establishment of Pineapple Payments, a leading provider of technology and payment transaction processing services. Pineapple Payments grew and was ultimately acquired by Fiserv in 2021, a milestone that underscored PCG’s ability to identify and cultivate high-potential ventures. That same year, PCG further strengthened its presence in the Pittsburgh region by acquiring the Oxford Athletic Club in the North Hills. More recently, PCG’s executive team expertly guided its portfolio businesses through the challenges of the pandemic, successfully navigating the government-enforced shutdowns. As a result, the company has achieved year-over-year growth, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

Today, Penn Cove Group remains focused on real estate development and capital funding, while also exploring impactful investment opportunities. Leveraging its business acumen and experienced leadership, PCG excels in providing business solutions across its diverse portfolio, ensuing sustainable growth and profitability. With each project, PCG remains committed to improving the greater Pittsburgh region and making a lasting impact in our community.
